EDITORIAL 51Cap au réel (Quand l’art s’y frotte) 17 avril 2003.If we want to be efficient in the fight against the notion of « entertainment » which leads to a loss of interest in the practice of arts and to be able to resist to all types of merchants (from the « barons » of the ancient regime to these neo-alternative operettas who seize innovative experiences to transform them into profit) it is necessary to question the capacity of these practices to come in contact with contemporary reality. A human, political or ethnical reality that we simply don’t want to just observe, but also want to discuss ; and, if possible to transform.
It is not time to renounce, on the contrary it is time to assert, after the political failure, that exchange through art and culture is an important way to understand the issues of civilization. We can then continue our fight to resist deterioration and « hi-jacking » so as to defend real modes of relation. In order to do this a number of things are essential such as acknowledgement of different people involved, between groups, and also exchange of ideas, discussing agreements and disagreements. That is the purpose of the website HORSCHAMP.ORG. The REFLEX(E) think-tank also works in this direction and CO-ERRANCE as well brings together very dynamic cultural actors from different fields. In order for this militant way of expression to continue to exist and to circulate, those who are interested must support them in concrete ways. Lets say it : this publication is expensive and to put into distribute. Each time a reader borrows it or photocopies an article instead of buying it or subscribing, we lose some. We therefore have either the choice between supporting those we believe in and liberty of expression, or dissolution and an opportunistic and consensual mass. 1.
