Editorial 5316 septembre 2003.We shall continue to explore countrysides ; it is resourceful nowadays. Our friends Deshoulières, Livchine and Benoit Szakow offer us so derisively. Let us follow, discover, and observe the strong and sincere procedures that leave us to believe that art is not only a product in the reach of managing handshakes.
Let us continue to imagine art as preoccupied by human kind can be relevant in our society. Let us continue to search for the means for this to happen. Will we in time know how to arrest this apparent inexorable situation of the public services’ hands on our culture, and its’ decay ? Will we be able to help our elected representatives and governmental workers understand in these security oriented times, that those who bring their lives closer to their art in investing unoccupied spaces to transform them into ’squats’ are not dangerous people and are on the contrary searchers of tomorrows. Will we be able, here and now, as in the past, to redress the bar and maintain our country as guardian and herald of democratic culture and art in grave danger of desecration ? Are we able to build and sustain these thinking tanks for people who do not wish to back up and become a tool for political influence and mentorship ? This is what we are trying out with the group REFLEX (E) in creating the 15 of June 2003 in the French Rhone-Alpes region a Parliament of democratic culture. PS : Not so much good news lately.
