FOR CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC DEMOCRACY6 octobre 2003.On September 20th will be held the First National Meetings of Plastic Artists at the Grande Halle of La Villette in Paris
What future of public services and culture in our country ? What new foundations of the relationship between art and society ? The group REFLEX(E) and the Federation of Networks and Associations for Plastic Artists invite all artists and cultural actors of all disciplines to come in contact to open a true debate on the future of our cultural ’exception’ defended abroad, but more and more demolished in France. Facing these threats on the cultural and artistic sector : Weakening of an already precarious life model for actors of living arts Threats on architecture and archeology Accelerated merging of editorial and distributive companies into private groups Thinning of Plastic budgets for cultural and social territorial collectivities Threats that the WTO inflicts on creativity and our local politics with its policies and cooperation between global economic institutions. It is urgent to open a debate on the future of cultural politics and the place art has to hold in our society. For almost two years now, the group REFLEX(E) works in depth on these questions, leading to the publication of a first book : ’The perverse cultural decentralization’, and to call for the foundation of a PARLIAMENT FOR DEMOCRATIC CULTURE. REFLEX(E) proposes with the Federation of Networks and associations for Plastic Artists, a general debate for DEMOCRATIC ART AND CULTURE on September 20, with the First National Meetings of Plastic Artists between September 17 to 20, at the Grande Halle of La Villette in Paris. We wish to associate all artists and cultural actors of all disciplines to join this central and historic reflection. CONTACT : Reflex(e) : parlement@horschamp.org FRAAP : fraap@wanadoo.fr |
